The FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 is a powerful compressed air rifle with a traditional design. Most noticeable is the apparent absence of an air reservoir, giving the FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 a nice low profile. The Swedes achieved this by mounting the air reservoir around the barrel like a barrel sheath. A very nice solution that gives the FX DRS Classic a minimalist look with very clean lines.

The FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 may be classically lined, but internally it is packed with the latest technology in compressed air rifles. And of course, it already has multiple fine-tuning options as standard; from an externally adjustable regulator to an adjustable hammer spring preload. We pick out the highlights for you:

Air reservoir in barrel sleeve
We mentioned it briefly; the FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 is FX’s first air rifle that sees the compressed air reservoir integrated into the barrel jacket. No more cylinder or bottle under the barrel and this has the advantage that the overall profile of the compressed air rifle has become considerably lower. This gives less obstruction in the shooting position, but also ensures that transportation and storage of the FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 require less space. The capacity of the reservoir is 208 cc.

Adjustable regulator
In order for the FX DRS to fire every shot with equal pressure, this compressed air rifle uses an AMP MkII regulator. This regulator is externally adjustable, making it child’s play to perfectly match the pressure to the pellet or slug being used. This gives the highest possible purity and guarantees ultimate shot consistency.

Adjustable hammer spring
By removing the stock, the spring preload of the hammer spring can be adjusted. If you give the hammer more spring preload, the valve will stay open longer, allowing a greater amount of air to pass through. Conversely, a lower hammer spring preload gives a shorter passage time. You can experiment with this, so that you keep a driving pressure behind the projectile in the barrel for as long as possible, without creating a disruptive overpressure as it leaves the barrel that can cause imbalance.

High Power plenum
FX is known for paying close attention to the plenum. This is the air supply chamber between the regulator and the valve. This stores the portion of regulated compressed air used in its completeness for one projectile. Larger projectiles, longer barrels and higher speeds require more air to allow the pellet or slug to leave the barrel at the desired speed. Conversely, too much air supply is a waste of air and too much air still blowing out of the barrel can affect cleanliness. For this reason, two variants of the FX High Power plenum are used on the FX DRS: the HP and the larger SHP for slugs. The FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 and 600 have an HP plenum (except the 500 in 6.35 mm, which has an SHP plenum), the FX DRS Classic 700 has an SHP plenum.

Superior STX running system
The Superior STX barrel system has a removable liner in the barrel that features pulls and pitches pressed in through the outside. As a result, the inside of the liner has a very smooth surface and beautifully flowing draws and fields. All this ensures minimal resistance and a good seal around the pellet or slug. FX DRS models with an HP plenum and caliber 5.5 or 6.35 have a Dual Hole transfer port in the barrel. This allows you to choose whether to shoot with pellets or slugs. The barrel has a ½ UNF thread with thread protector for mounting an optional silencer.

Walnut butt
The FX DRS Classic Walnut 500 has a beautiful walnut wood stock made by the renowned Italian Minelli. Their flasks are known for excellent ergonomics and high-quality workmanship. The walnut wood stock gives the compressed air rifle a stylish look.

Adjustable trigger
To get the very best out of the FX DRS Classic Walnut 500, it came with a fully adjustable trigger. With this, you set the trigger exactly the way you want it to feel, so that the feel matches your exact shooting style. Both the first and second stages are adjustable and the trigger blade is adjustable in distance and height, but can also be rotated for perfect ergonomics.

Magazine choice and rails
The FX DRS comes standard with a mini magazine. This small magazine allows you to mount the scope very low on the air rifle. Should you wish to mount an optional 30 MOA Weaver/Picatinny rail on the 11 mm dovetail rail of the FX DRS Classic, that is possible. We have a low variant where you can continue to use the mini magazine and a high variant for when you want to use the optional mega magazine with more capacity.

Loading and filling
With the magazine in place, it is simply a matter of pulling back the very smooth tension lever on the right side to load the FX DRS through. And to replenish the air supply, there is a filler hole on the right side into which you very easily insert a filler nipple.
